by Max studied the anticancer drug 5-fluoruracil and found RNA hypomodification is not limited to pseudouridine and m5U in tRNA, but expands to pseudouridine and weirdly enough to 2′-O-methylated nucleosides in rRNA. In a tour-de-force, he dissected the phenomenon at temporal resolution using NAIL-MS while being supported by Chengkang who studied the resulting proteome. Read up their amazing work at NAR.
